I grew up in Bristol and started my academic journey studying History at Queens' College in Cambridge University. There I became interested in the history of political thought, leading to an MA in political theory at UCL where I also completed my PhD in Political Philosophy in 2015.
In another lifetime I spent several thrilling (though, ultimately, politically frustrating!) years helping to run various campaigns in the UK seeking to protect civil liberties and reform the electoral system in Westminster.
Outside academia I enjoy running, hiking, music festivals, learning languages and entertaining my two very excitable young children.
I am currently Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Studies at Loughborough University in the UK. I previously taught in the Philosophy department at King’s College London and before that I held an Irish Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at University College Dublin. I also spent a wonderful year as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

As a researcher and educator, I am keen to develop research proposals, co-organised conferences, discussions and other collaborative work - do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss how we could work together.
